Just follow people and they might follow you back or if you have friends get them to follow you and sometimes you will just get random people follow you.
I have a twitter. I have no idea how to use it and I have never made a single tweet, but I still have a lot of followers anyway for some reason. I only have one because I like to read the inane details of other people’s lives, but feel too silly to publish my own.
i want and I guess need a lot more followers to my twitter account. i see ordinary people with thousands of followers all of the time… how do i get the same for my account?
There are a few things I can do which seem to boost my followers quite a bit:
1. Follow a lot of interesting people with their own high "following" numbers who are likely to follow you back. But first be sure to add the people you are most interested in reading on a daily basis on a list so you don’t get bogged down reading all of them.
2. Try to tweet about interesting topics, like entertainment or politics, rather than about what you’re eating or at which grocery store you shop. People gravitate to funny, unique opinions about the world. And if you have something to say about a trending topic, say it. I once gained about 20 followers just from tweeting the words "breaking news" even though I wasn’t sharing actual news.
3. Find a balance in order to keep your followers. Tweet often, but not too often. I’ve heard that more than 20 a day can get really annoying to some people.
Hope that helps! I don’t think there’s a magic button to gain a ton of followers. You have to earn them as if you were trying to attract blog readers or even real-life friends.

I have only had my twitter account for a while, but I do want a follower or two. How do you get a follower? Give me safe tips, places of twitter to go to, or something. BTW nobody I know wants to use or does use twitter.

My other friends who have twitters have way more followers than me. How do they get so many and I don’t?
Be interesting. Tweet things that other people might be interested. Don’t talk about being bored/hungry/hungover, etc.
Follow some of the bigger players (look for the ones that have lots of followers AND follow a lot of people), retweet their good stuff, which will get yours noticed and possibly retweeted by them.
Tell jokes, inspire people, make people think, motivate them, talk with them (practice usual online safety because you never know who’s watching), help them.
Be a valuable twitter user and people will follow you.
basically, i only have 11 followers on twitter, and my friend has 221. Why has she got so many, and why have all these people decided to follow her and not me?
the most important thing is to create interesting content - people follow you if you have some insight to share and interesting helpful tips and not just "I just ate vanilla icream"
of course you can use software such as TweetUnlimited.com that will mass message people
and you will sure get attention but it might be short lived
the count of the followers size does nothing say about you - if you provide interesting things and if they are specific to one topic you could be known on Twitter to be that "topic" person and soon find thousands of people following you like a celebrity

On twitter, every Friday there is the "Trending Topic" - "Follow Friday". Just make a twitter or ten on any given Friday that contains the words "Follow Friday" in that order and you’ll probably get a few followers from the kind of people who just search the trending topics.
Just tweet: "I love Follow Friday! Please follow me?" on Friday
There is a twitter account with 50,000 followers,
and I want a list of that accounts’ followers.
can I receive that List in any way?

Yes there are few softwares that would do it for you but not too accurate. Try Scriptlance or Elance.
Someone will do it for 10-20 bucks and it will be more accurate.

No way is guaranteed. But three things can kind of help. First, make sure you have a great profile (the "about me" part). Then and only then, proceed to these two places and join:

Also, remember these rules:
(1) Don’t tweet too often! (Like, you don’t want to fill up your followers’ walls: gets annoying!)
(2) ALWAYS @reply when they tweet you! Polite to answer! (Except when you’re "ending" a conversation, of course…it has to stop, *somewhere*.)
(3) RT retweet often - that is, give public notice of your followers’ tweets - that gives them public recognition, and shows them you care about what they said, and you want to spread the word that they’re important.
I want to send a mass Direct Message to my followers on twitter. Is there a way to do this?
I could build you some software to do this but you can only send 250 DM’s in a day as that is all that Twitter allows. You also need to consider the API limit of 150 API requests per hour. You would need to schedule the DM’s randomly so that it looked like they were being posted by a real person too or Twitter would pickup on what you are doing.
