Firstly FaceBook makes money via its Advertising program. If you have a web site or a company you may create a FaceBook page and advertise it on a CPC basis. So Facebook earns money from allowing its members to advertise their companies or web sites. Secondly FaceBook makes money from selling "Gifts" to members. If you want to congratulate someone you may send him a gift. You pay for a virtual gift normally it’s a picture of a toy or anything else. Thirdly FaceBook earns money from investors. As far as I remember Microsoft invested about $250 millions.
There are a lot of other ways how to monetize a social network web site. No one will share this kind of information and you need to "dig" it by yourself.)

There are some auto post Twitter tools that can help you plan out your tweets so that you can draw attention to your website. There are also Twitter tools that help you find people to follow that may have interest in your website.
Truthfully though, the best way to use Twitter is to use it as you would networking in person. If you think about it, most of the people who are on Twitter are trying to make a living online just like you, and unless you are offering products about making a living online or working from home and things of that nature, you probably will not see that much money come from your Twitter work.
But, Twitter is a good networking tool to make connections and possible partnerships with others in your niche and to learn new things, so look at Twitter that way instead of simply the income value. First of all why are you talking to someone you don’t know online? Second if she are asking you for money of course she is going to ‘act’ like she needs it. Block her on both Twitter and Myspace and then report her to myspace and Twitter because they both have a link for abuse, and do not send her anything and tell your parents. Then stop talking to people online that you don’t know.

I subscribe to Matt Bacak’s Internet Marketing Dirt newsletter and he had an article in it a little while back about how you can make money with Twitter. He basically said it was not as effective for generating income as people think it is. People are gung-ho about social media now and they get caught up in the thrill of meeting other people and connecting. But what you don’t realize is that most of the people on Twitter are just like you and are trying to make money, so they are not going to make you any money because most of them are broke!
I recommend that you can stay on Twitter if you want just to make friends and connections with people, but don’t use it as a marketing tool. If you want to make money with Twitter, then come up with a product that people will buy about making money with Twitter as that is the only way you will do it.
I have found that article marketing is the best way to make money off of blogs and websites. I outsource all my writing and then submit an article to the directories about every 2-3 days. After about a month of this, you will start seeing a substantial increase of traffic to your site. Also, finding forums to post to on your niche is a great way to market your site as well.
