I have only had my twitter account for a while, but I do want a follower or two. How do you get a follower? Give me safe tips, places of twitter to go to, or something. BTW nobody I know wants to use or does use twitter.

get someone popular to reply to you, like a celebrity. then when a lot of people follow you, tweet interesting things and reply to them.
My other friends who have twitters have way more followers than me. How do they get so many and I don’t?
Be interesting. Tweet things that other people might be interested. Don’t talk about being bored/hungry/hungover, etc.
Follow some of the bigger players (look for the ones that have lots of followers AND follow a lot of people), retweet their good stuff, which will get yours noticed and possibly retweeted by them.
Tell jokes, inspire people, make people think, motivate them, talk with them (practice usual online safety because you never know who’s watching), help them.
Be a valuable twitter user and people will follow you.
If I can only see someone through importing my email contacts on Twitter, does that mean they have blocked me? I can see this girl from middle school there but I cannot click on her there, it says to follow her but she won’t be added to my followers list…What’s the story?

basically, i only have 11 followers on twitter, and my friend has 221. Why has she got so many, and why have all these people decided to follow her and not me?
the most important thing is to create interesting content - people follow you if you have some insight to share and interesting helpful tips and not just "I just ate vanilla icream"
of course you can use software such as TweetUnlimited.com that will mass message people
and you will sure get attention but it might be short lived
the count of the followers size does nothing say about you - if you provide interesting things and if they are specific to one topic you could be known on Twitter to be that "topic" person and soon find thousands of people following you like a celebrity

On twitter, every Friday there is the "Trending Topic" - "Follow Friday". Just make a twitter or ten on any given Friday that contains the words "Follow Friday" in that order and you’ll probably get a few followers from the kind of people who just search the trending topics.
